We cannot believe it is the 5th year of this fundraiser!
For the 5th year in a row, Andrew Hine (age 14) is challenging himself to run five 5K events in 2019. In 2015, Andrew became a member of a team of campers and staff of North Woods, Pleasant Valley and Sandy Island Camps who took the challenge to run to raise money for kids who would otherwise not be able to afford overnight camp. Because of this experience, Andrew ran for his middle school's cross-country (fall) and track (spring) teams, and in 8th grade he was voted Captain of his XC team by his peers. Andrew has attended North Woods Camp on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee for the last five summers and will return again this summer as a LIT (leader in training).
Here is a note from Andrew directly:
"Camp has been a great experience for me, and I hope to share this experience with others. It gives the feeling of freedom, the feeling of being out in the open, and exploring. And many people aren't fortunate enough to have this. People living away from nature, or having too much to do, or not being able to explore the outside. This is why I fundraise. To help these underprivileged kids get out and explore, and make friends while doing it. Camp is a great provider of all these things. Even to say that would be an understatement. The effect this fundraising could have on a child would be tremendous, and would open someone up to a new experience they never would've thought they would ever be apart of. And I think it is amazing that as a community we can come together to help someone struggling."
Please consider donating to Andrew's fundraising efforts and help send a child to camp who otherwise wouldn't be able to.
Thank you for your tax-deductible donation and your amazing support!
