My Aunt and Grandmother both took me in when I was born, to allow my mother to work 2 jobs so that she could take care of me and my brothers. They both cared for myself and my brothers, and all of their friends. They both helped raised everyone's children. At the age of 26, they still were a huge part of my life and helped me be where I am today. They understood the importance of the work I and everyone else does at the Y.
In a matter of 3 months, I lost them both. I lost the two most important people in my life. They helped myself and every child they cared for to become the better version of themselves. In their honor, I would like to keep their legacy alive of caring for other children and providing opportunities for children by naming a Camp Scholarship in their name. They understood the importance of families and children living the best life that can be provided for them, which is exactly what the Y is doing.
At the Y we are a melting pot with families coming from all over – East Boston, Revere, Everett, Winthrop, Chelsea and Greater Boston. The reality of our community is that 95% of our children served in childcare receive financial assistance from the state and from the Y, the teen drop our rate ranges from 8% to nearly 20%, and obesity is rampant skirting on 28%.
We are raising funds to support our financial assistance and scholarship programs for families in need in our community. We ask that you consider a donation in support of our cause. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.
Thank you for your consideration of our request for donation.
