Hello fellow PVC and NWC supporters!
Thank you all so much for supporting my spring fundraising efforts (#Support144)!
As many of you know, I recently joined the Board of Advisors for the YMCA of Greater Boston's Overnight Camps, including Pleasant Valley, North Woods, and Sandy Island. I joined this Advisory Board because I wanted to find a way to give back to camp after it has given so much to me. Some of my greatest memories and friendships in life were formed at camp. It was at camp where I learned core values like friendship, teamwork, leadership, and community, all in a beautiful, peaceful setting that also taught me to appreciate all that nature and the outdoors have to offer.
Our Advisory Board raises money each year to provide this same experience to a number of new and returning campers. This year our fundraising campaign is called #Support144. This hashtag is not just a symbol for our address and where we commit to serving amazing campers year over year (144 Governor Wentworth’s Highway) – but more importantly – it spotlights the impact we aim to have from our fundraising efforts, driving charitable support for 144 deserving campers between now and the launch of our campaign - April 12th and May 10th.
Each year, as Board of Advisor volunteers, we spend countless hours, days, weeks and months fundraising so that we never say no to any camper who comes our way. Last year we said YES to 84 PVC girls and 61 NW boys along with 16 Sandy Island camper families and 71 NW/PVC Family Campers. This year we are already seeing a 40% increase in financial scholarship applications. We aim to say YES to everyone who wants to be a part of our camp community and I hope you will join me today by also saying YES and making a charitable gift in support of my efforts.
Our spring campaign goal is to support 144 deserving campers. This year the scholarships are especially meaningful to me as UP Education Network, the school turnaround organization I helped found in 2010, and the Y are co-sponsoring 8 UP Academy students to attend NWC and PVC this summer. Your gift will go a long way towards helping to make that possible!
Thank you in advance for your support!
