2018 YMCA of Greater Boston Annual Campaign

Alicia & Delma Cerna Camp Fund

You know the challenges that we face in our community. People of all ages and backgrounds are struggling to reach their full potential and instead of seeing the income gap shrink, it seems all we do is watch it grow.

At the Y we are a melting pot with families coming from all over – East Boston, Revere, Everett, Winthrop, Chelsea and Greater Boston. The reality of our community is that 95% of our children served in childcare receive financial assistance from the state and from the Y, the teen drop our rate ranges from 8% to nearly 20%, and obesity is rampant skirting on 28%.

We are raising funds to support our financial assistance and scholarship programs for families in need in our community. At the Y, we are providing a safe place for children and peace of mind for working parents. We provide FREE credit recovery classes for teens so they can graduate high school and contribute to society in a positive way. We are helping low income families regain their health through FREE diabetes prevention programming, cooking classes on a low-income budget and coaching at our Ashley Street Kitchen. We support seniors by giving them a place to go and activities that keep them engaged and sharp. We provide support to immigrants on their journey toward economic independence, self-sufficiency and self-advocacy so that they can reach their full potential as productive contributing members within their new communities by offering free ESOL and Citizenship classes ….this list goes on and on.

We ask that you consider a donation in support of our cause. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.

The East Boston YMCA understands what our community needs to be its best but we need the help of generous donors like you. In partnership, the Y can provide everyone the opportunity to be healthy and thrive, to connect with others, and contribute to a better community.

Thank you for your consideration of our request for donation.
