I have been working for the Hyde Park Y for the past 6 years, working in the Out of School Time Programs and Summer Camps. In working at the Hyde Park Y I have had the chance to see first hand how the Y's Annual Fund Campaign directly impacts the children and families in our programs. The Annual Fund helps children and families afford and participate in many ofthe programs here at the Hyde Park Y. One child in particular has benefited a great deal.

Jack came to camp as a withdrawn and un-engaged 4 year old. He had been diagnosed with a form of autism and had never been able to participate in any porgrams with his typically developing peers. Jack also had a lack of social interactions, a fear of water and delayed communication skills. Jack was denied entry into programs outside of the Y, but at the Y Jack was welcomed with open arms and able to get financial assistance to participate in our Scamper Camp. By the end of the summer, Jack had gained tremendous confidence in himself and was not only swimming but submerging his face in the water and hugging all of his new friends. Last fall, Jack was able to be placed into an integrated classroom, something his mother never thought would be possible, and she credits the Y for all of the progress he made. She believes Jack wouldn't be where he is today without the financial assistance and incredible compassion he received from the Y.

Pleae consider making a donation to help children, like Jack, experience a life changing summer. All the funds stay right here in Hyde Park and help the children and their families participate in everything the Y has to offer.

The YMCA of Greater Boston is building the foundations of community by fostering relationships. With the help of volunteers, neighbors, individuals, children and families, we ensure that everyone in our community has the skills they need to be healthy, confident and connected to others.
